The 2.5 TFSI EVO is in a class of its own. Five-cylinder inline, a unique sound, torque that arrives early and strong. That is what makes the RS3 and the Formentor VZ5 so addictive to drive. But as soon as you start pushing performance tuning, the first limitation becomes obvious: the factory intake is undersized for the engine's real potential. A kit designed for performance, not for the catalog

Where many intake kits simply swap the stock filter for a sport filter, CTS Turbo has redesigned the entire airpath. The result is a three-part system working together: a 5" aluminum tube, a 6" XXL velocity stack filter, and a rotomolded intake box with a dedicated scoop. Each component plays a specific role in the performance chain.

The 5" aluminum tube: Wider than the factory duct, it reduces pressure losses and speeds up turbo boost buildup. The black epoxy finish withstands under-hood heat cycles and gives the whole assembly a clean look.

The 6" velocity stack filter: The conical velocity stack profile is not just cosmetic: it accelerates and smooths the incoming airflow before it reaches the turbine. Less turbulence, better compressor efficiency, crisper throttle response.

The rotomolded scoop: This is often the decisive part that entry-level kits overlook. It captures cold air from the front face and routes it straight to the filter, avoiding recirculation of hot under-hood air. During extended spirited driving or on track, the difference in intake air temperature is significant, and intake air temperature directly translates into power.

Two couplers, maximum compatibility

The kit ships with two silicone couplers: one for the factory turbo inlet tube, and a second sized for the CTS Turbo 4" turbo inlet. In practice, you can install this kit today on a stock car and keep it unchanged when moving to an upgraded inlet. No need to buy a new intake when you move up to Stage.

Who is it for, and for what use?

This kit makes sense once you're considering ECU tuning: Stage 1, Stage 2, or beyond. On stock, the sound improvement is immediate and acceleration feels slightly improved. But it is when paired with an ECU map that the kit truly reveals its potential: the ECU may request more air, and the intake can deliver it. Homologated up to 1000 hp, it keeps up with the most advanced builds without ever becoming the weak link.
