APR's PEX open intake system is the best value intake for 1.0T and 1.5T engines! We have significantly maximized performance and sound by removing flow restrictors, reducing pressure drop, and increasing airflow. This translates into more power and torque, and less physical stress on the turbocharger. The system looks great, sounds incredible, and produces power and torque you can feel. Our open PEX intake system eliminates the closed airbox design and uses a massive 7" washable, reusable cotton filter with a 4" front inlet and rear outlet. This was necessary to limit pressure drop in the factory system and maximize airflow, while letting you fully hear the engine breathe! The massive filter offers excellent filtration. By oversizing the filter, we can limit pressure drop without sacrificing filtration. This is made possible by using a considerably larger filter surface area. The PEX material gives the intake a factory-like feel and lets us build a complex, organic heat shield shape that keeps the hot air pushed through the front radiator away from the intake tube. Finally, PEX retains less heat than other materials such as metal, which makes it ideal for performance. Flow bench and dyno testing: The factory intake simply cannot match the performance of our intake. The factory front airbox only flows 470 cfm at 28 inH2O. We improved this by up to 113% with our open airbox across the entire test range and reached a peak flow of 935 cfm at the same vacuum! This translates directly into power you can feel. Our 1.5T test vehicle saw an extra 10 WFT-LBS and 6 WHP over stock! These are solid gains that make a noticeable difference in performance!
