Trade discount on auto parts: Gold tier from your first order
At most auto parts wholesalers, you have to earn the best discount: you negotiate with a sales rep, prove your revenue and wait for the end of the quarter. At JDM Distribution, we have removed that wait. Your trade discount unlocks directly in the cart as soon as an order reaches the threshold, including your very first one. No calls, no emails, no paperwork.

Each tier gives you access to a higher discount across the entire catalog. The exact rate depends on the brand and the part: you can see it on each product page once you are logged in.
The Gold discount from your first order: how it works
The principle is simple: your cart counts. We add up your already confirmed purchases and the cart you are currently building.
- You fill your cart as usual. A "Trade tier" block shows you in real time the tier you have reached and the amount remaining before the next one.
- The threshold is crossed: the "Gold tier discount" (or Silver) line appears immediately in the order summary, with the exact amount saved on this cart. It is recalculated if you add or remove a part.
- You pay: your account moves up to the new tier. Your subsequent orders are displayed directly at the right price, with no discount line to wait for.
A new customer placing a first order of €1,000 excl. VAT therefore pays Gold pricing on everything, exactly like a long-standing customer.
The exact calculation, no catch
- Amount counted: the total for parts excl. VAT, excluding shipping costs.
- Before the tier discount: the discount never drops you back below the threshold. A €1,040 excl. VAT cart that comes to €915 excl. VAT once the Gold discount is deducted stays at Gold pricing, and it counts as €1,040 in your purchases for the next 30 days.
- Confirmed orders: only paid orders count toward the total (a canceled or refunded order is not counted).
- France, Europe, French overseas departments and outside the EU: the same rule applies everywhere. Customers outside mainland France simply see their prices excl. VAT.
6 trade scenarios, with figures
1. The repair shop that orders as needed
An independent repair shop places three €350 excl. VAT orders in the same week. The first is at Bronze pricing. With the second, its purchases reach €700 excl. VAT: the Silver discount applies to that order. With the third, it reaches €1,050 excl. VAT over 30 days: the third order moves to Gold pricing. It did not ask for anything or combine anything: its orders added up on their own.
Tip: by combining all three into a single €1,050 excl. VAT cart, it gets Gold pricing on the whole order from the start.
2. The tuner equipping a customer project
A tuner opens an account for a specific project: turbo kit, performance clutch and exhaust, totaling €1,200 excl. VAT. It is their first order, and yet it is entirely at Gold pricing. Over the following 30 days, the small finishing parts they add stay at Gold pricing. After that, if they order less, they drop back to Silver, which remains guaranteed for 12 months thanks to that large order.
3. The online retailer restocking every month
An online reseller restocks around €1,000 to €1,500 excl. VAT per month. Their purchases over a rolling 30 days never fall below €1,000 excl. VAT: they stay Gold permanently, and their margins on the parts they resell are calculated on our best pricing. With the CSV catalog, they get their discounted prices directly in their file.
4. The occasional professional
A body shop orders twice a year: €320 excl. VAT in February, then €310 excl. VAT in September. With the second order, its purchases over 12 months reach €630 excl. VAT: the Silver discount applies to that order, then stays in place for 12 months, even if it does not reorder until the end of the following year.
5. The professional hesitating over a part
On every product page, a logged-in professional sees how much is missing, for example: "Only €85 excl. VAT more to add to your cart to unlock the Gold tier. This part then drops to €114.71 excl. VAT." Rather than postponing the purchase of a consumable they will need next month, they add it now and lower the price of their entire cart.
6. The Gold customer going through a quiet month
A Gold-tier shop orders little during the vacation period: its purchases over 30 days fall below €1,000 excl. VAT and it drops back to Silver (guaranteed). When business picks back up, the first cart that brings it back to €1,000 excl. VAT over 30 days immediately returns to Gold pricing. No penalty, no requalification period.
Where to track your progress
- In the cart: tier reached, amount of the discount applied, amount left to order for the next tier and estimated additional savings on the parts already added.
- On each product page: the amount remaining before the next tier and the price of the part at that tier.
- In your account, under My trade tier: your purchases over 30 days and 12 months, the date until which your tier is guaranteed and your tier change history.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to contact a sales rep to get the Gold discount?
No. It is applied automatically in the cart as soon as the threshold is reached, including on a first order.
Do shipping costs count toward the threshold?
No, only the amount for parts excl. VAT is counted. The tier discount also applies to parts only.
What happens if I remove items from the cart?
The discount is recalculated immediately. If the cart falls back below the threshold, the discount line disappears and the "Trade tier" block shows you the amount missing.
I am already a Gold customer: what changes?
Your prices do not change. You stay Gold as long as you order €1,000 excl. VAT over 30 days, and if you fall below that threshold, you keep Silver and every cart that crosses the threshold again returns to Gold pricing.
