Starting in 2026, a new European regulation is changing the way all professionals who ship parcels operate, and the performance auto parts sector is no exception. At JDM Distribution, we have taken the lead so that you have nothing to handle on your end.

What exactly are we talking about?

EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) for commercial packaging now requires any business that places packaged products on the market (cartons, void fill, plastic film) to register with an approved compliance organization and to contribute financially to the recycling of that packaging.

This is not just a recommendation: it is a legal obligation, governed at the European level by the PPWR regulation, which applies in every country of the European Union, including France. In practice, as soon as a professional ships a packaged parcel to a customer, regardless of the destination country, they take on responsibility as the party placing it on the market.

Who is affected?

Unsurprisingly in our sector, any professional who sells and ships auto parts, whether a tuner, a repair shop, a reseller or a specialized online retailer, falls within the scope of this obligation. There is no minimum exemption threshold: even a low shipping volume does not exempt you from the obligation.

Failure to comply with this regulation is no small matter: it exposes you to financial penalties that can be significant, as well as to the risk of being blocked outright from selling in certain European countries, particularly where marketplaces or online sales platforms systematically check seller compliance.
